GUNMEN early yesterday morning shot up a party in Duhaney Park, Kingston, killing one man and seriously injuring two other persons.
Homicide investigators identified the dead man as 33-year-old Kebra McCalla, also called Christopher Davis, of Willowdene and Ebony Vale in St Catherine.
According to the police, McCalla was among a group of persons at the party on Duhaney Drive when two gunmen approached and opened fire at him.
Police said McCalla ran but was chased by his attackers, who sprayed him with bullets, killing him on the spot. The incident occurred about 1:00 am.
The injured persons - a man and a woman - were admitted at hospital, police said.
Yesterday, police could not confirm whether or not McCalla was wanted for any crimes in St Catherine, or if he may have been followed to the area.
"Right now nobody can say whether he was mixed up or what. We can speculate but nowadays people are killed for all types of reasons," an officer at the Constabulary Communication Network, the police information arm, said.
Sections of Duhaney Drive remained tense following the shooting yesterday, according to a female resident of nearby Hopkins Avenue, who recalled being awakened by a barrage of gunfire in the pre-dawn hours.
"It was just continuous gunfire last night; like somebody was emptying their guns," related the woman.
"That's why the road is empty from morning, not even my neighbours have come outside from morning, which is very unusual for a Saturday," lamented the woman, after she was informed that someone had been killed in the incident.
